5 months

Mommy says it is nearly impossible to believe I am already 5 months old. The past few days have been new as usual for me. There is this white thing sticking out in the bottom of my mouth. I don't like it there one bit, but mommy makes such a big fuss over it. She said something about it being my first tooth. All I know is it hurts, and it wakes me up at night. It's okay though, when I wake up I just make sure mommy gets up too since she apparently likes this new tooth so much. I was up late Wednesday night fussing over the pain while mommy was out with mawmaw. Then Thursday morning (7/12) mommy noticed my tooth while feeding me.

My 5 month birthday has been an exciting day as well. Today I both sat in my high chair for the first time and ate rice cereal for the first time. Mommy sat me in my high chair while she got my first "solid" meal ready thinking I would only stay there for a couple of minutes. Much to her surprise I loved the seat. It was so high up, I could see everything from the same perspective as mommy and daddy. Then daddy gave me my first bites of cereal while mommy took pictures. I loved it! I was especially fascinated by the spoon and kept trying to take it away from daddy. One time I hit the spoon right out of his hand, and the cereal went all over my face and bib. For some reason mommy and daddy even thought that was funny! Here are some birthday pictures:

After I ate I got to sit in my high chair and play with my toys.
I also played with my daddy a lot this evening. He made me laugh and squeal with delight for an hour!

My first 4th of July

The 4th of July was a very busy and exciting day for the whole family. First we went to the park for a picnic with daddy's family. I had so much fun playing with Nina, Grandpa, Aunt Kay, Harry, Matt, Aunt Christy, Uncle Dan, Maddie, Eric, Aunt, Uncle, and Grandma Nellie too. (I'm helping mommy type this post and enjoying the keyboard quite a bit =).) Later in the afternoon we stopped by Mawmaw and Pawpaw's house to visit mommy's family. Uncle Phil and Aunt Anna came in for the day. My baby cousin is growing more and more in Aunt Anna's belly! While there we went for a swim to cool off before heading back to the park. In the evening we went to Elizabeth's house for more barbecue of course, and I met more new people. Then we went back to the park to join Nina, Grandpa, and the rest of the family for the fireworks. I fell asleep on the car ride back to the park and ended up sleeping straight through the fireworks. Mommy was worried about the noise, but they didn't bother me one bit! Finally we went home. I woke up just long enough to eat a little and say my prayers with mommy and daddy, then it was off to bed for me. Here are some pictures from our very exciting day:

Me and Nina. I'm learning how to play baseball
This is my great great Aunt and Uncle
And here I am with Grandpa and great Grandma Nellie
Just me and Grandma Nellie

Hooray for smiles in the pool. A perfect day for a swim!

Firsts

I am still in the early stages of teething but no teeth yet! Mommy thinks it may be another month before a tooth actually comes through. However, I do have plenty more firsts happening in my life. Last Wednesday I went to the St. Louis arch and the science center with mommy, mawmaw, and my cousin Drew. I was very well behaved the whole day. Once we got to the top of the arch I made mommy feed me. It was quite enjoyable eating 630 feet in the air. Then I slept the rest of the time we were up there. After we came back down to the ground we explored the museum of westward expansion at the arch. Drew and I had our pictures taken in front of many of the displays. Next we went to lunch and then on to the science center. There is an aquarium on the wall there which mesmarized me for quite a while. Here are some pictures from our trip:

In other news, I have been working on rolling over for a couple of months now. I always tend to get 3/4's of the way over getting stuck by my opposite arm. This morning while mommy was eating her oatmeal I finally did it and went all the way! I did it so quickly mommy didn't even see me. All she knows is she laid me down on my back, took a couple of bites of oatmeal, turned to look at me, and I was on my stomach. While on my stomach I started being more mobile also. I'm now lifting my shoulders and chest off of the ground a little as well as my head (mini pushups). I rolled over a couple more times for mommy while she was watching too. She tried to capture a picture of me in action, but I'm so quick she could only get me after I was already on my tummy. Here are some pictures mommy took this morning:

Here are a couple more of me hanging out with my Uncle Phil and Aunt Anna. Aunt Anna is going to give me a baby cousin when I am 9 months old!
