Home sweet home

Friends and family, it is time for an update on my long and busy life! I am 9 days old today and growing like a weed! Mommy and daddy can hardly believe it. They don't even treat me like a newborn anymore, but I am still their little princess. I don't think that will stop any time soon. This past week has been very exciting! I have loved being home and getting to know my mommy and daddy. I got to spend more time getting to know all of my grandparents, especially Mawmaw. I have a feeling I'll be seeing a lot of her, especially when daddy goes back to work this week. Mommy says I sleep and eat wonderfully! She keeps calling me perfect and wondering how on earth she deserves such a wonderful baby as me. I sleep through the night, waking only a couple of times to eat. The first couple of nights I didn't get up at all! Mommy had to wake me up to feed me, and then she let me go back to bed. Then I started to realize I don't have to wait for mommy. She will get me out of bed and feed me whenever I say so! This cry of mine is a pretty powerful thing! Mommy doesn't mind though. Mommy keeps bragging about how well I eat too. Apparently some mommys have problems feeding their babies, but my mom and I are a match made in heaven. Feeding time is almost always easy and wonderful for both of us!

I've been home for one week now, and I've gotten to leave the house twice. Tuesday mommy, daddy, and I went back to that big building we just left. There they weighed me and took my temperature and checked on mommy too. Mommy was nervous I wasn't digesting my food well enough, but I quickly proved her wrong. When leaving the hospital I weighed 7 pounds 13 ouces, and at this visit I was up to 8 pounds 1 ounce. Then Friday mommy and daddy took me to the pediatrician for the first time. I didn't like it at first, because they took my temperature just like at the hospital. I hate having my temperature taken! The doctor was really nice though, and the office has lots of fun things to see and do. I think I like it there! Mommy and daddy were very happy, because the doctor said I am healthy and growing well. At this appointment I weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces and measured 21 inches long (a whole inch longer than when I was born)! The doctor also complemented my muscle tone. Mommy and daddy had already noticed how strong I am, because I already hold my head up a little, and I'm working really hard on rolling over! I'm a very fast learner!

At home, I've been more awake and alert with each passing day. When I'm awake, mommy and daddy like to do lots of fun things with me. Mommy reads me Dr. Seuss books and sings songs too. Daddy's favorite book to read to me is Winnie the Pooh. Mommy and I both love to listen to him read to us! We listen to lots of good music too! My favorite thing to do is just gaze in mommy and daddy's eyes. Sometimes they make faces at me, and I make the same face back at them! I don't know why, but mommy and daddy get a big kick out of this! I already stick my tongue out thanks to daddy, and mommy is working on teaching me how to give kisses. She gives me lots and lots of kisses!

Yesterday Fr. Tom and Mat. Tonya came to our house to meet me. Mawmaw and Nina both came too. Father said prayers for mommy and me, and then at the end he used my name for the very first time! Mommy and Daddy spent a long time picking out a patron saint for me. They finally decided on Passion-bearer Tsarina Alexandra. Mommy and daddy pray with me every day, and I really like it! I'm learning this one called the Lord's prayer. Whenever we say it at home, I get quiet and pay close attention. Mommy thinks this is a very good sign!

Here are a few pictures of my week:

Mommy dressed me up and took lots and lots of photos of me. She is ordering announcements with this photo on them to send to people to let them know I am here.

This picture wasn't chosen for the announcement, but it is mommy's absolute favorite. I am a girl of many expressions, and this is my favorite one to make! Mommy especially loves how I crossed my legs as I made it!
And one of mommy and me together.

I went on my first walk this week too! It was a lovely day outside, so mommy and daddy took me up and down the block. We even got to meet one of our neighors while we were out.

Wednesday was grandpa's brithday, and he came to visit me and hold me for the first time!

Another feeding has come and gone. It is time for mommy and I to get some sleep before the sun rises. Good night.

Pictures of me

This is mommy's favorite picture of me. I was 8 pounds and 2 ounces when I was born. Some people thought that was big, but mommy tells me I'm absolutely perfect. She actually thought I looked small!
This is the dress I wore home from the hospital. My mommy wore the same dress when she came home from the hospital; Mawmaw gave it to her for me! I'm still adjusting to this opening my eyes thing, but mommy gets really excited when I do open them. It took a few tries before I'd open them for this picture.

Mommy and daddy were very excited when it came time to leave the hospital Sunday. We got to leave around 11:30 am, and daddy drove mommy and I home. I was scared when mommy first sat me in this strange seat, but then she wrapped a warm blanket around me, and I felt much better!

My very first car ride! I surprised mommy by being very content the whole way home. It was bright and cold outside, but nothing phased me. I was excited to see this home place mommy kept talking about.

Mommy has many, many more pictures of me thanks to all the pictures Mawmaw took at the hospital. I keep mom pretty busy though, so we'll have to share them with you later. It sure is good to be home!

Happy Birthday to Me!!!

I'M HERE!

I was born on February 16, 2007 at 4:26 pm. When born I weighed 8 pounds and 2 ounces, and my length was 20 inches long. I have long, soft, dark brown hair, and everyone says I was the prettiest baby in the hospital (even the other mommy's!). My mommy calls me a princess, and I think she treat me like one too! Mommy, daddy, and I came home from the hospital today and are adjusting to our new lives together. We will update soon with information, and of course pictures too!

Love,
Alexandria Diane

Happy Valentine's Day!

This will probably be my last prenatal post! Mommy went back to the doctor this morning, and I think I surprised her by developing a little more. She didn't think I was changing at all! After being 2 cm dilated for the past 3 weeks, today, she was "almost" 3 and 75% effaced! The doctor also stripped her membranes today, and the doctor seems to think this will make me come VERY soon. Before her appointment, mommy thought I may wait until next week to come, but now I have everybody confused and wondering when I will arrive! Mommy tells me she is more and more excited to meet me! She did ask me to wait until at least tomorrow though, because daddy has to go to school tonight, and I think for some reason, she wants him to be there too.

Happy Valentine's Day everybody! I will see you soon!

Baby showers!

Since I plan to be born soon, mommy and I have some catching up to do on my blog before I arrive. Over the past month, we have had not just 1 but 2 baby showers! People sure must love our family an awful lot! The first shower was thrown by the ladies at church on January 14th. They held it downstairs during coffee hour after liturgy. The hall was decorated with streamers and decorations. They prepared lots of yummy food, and even had a huge cake from Krutas bakery! Mommy was overwhelmed by the amount of presents we received. A long table was covered and stacked high with boxes and bags galore! Everybody had to remind mommy that the gifts were for me and not for her! Among the gifts were the 'James the Giraffe' bedding set and all of the accessories to go along with it. I can hardly wait to snuggle up in all of the blankets. I also received a lot of clothes; I plan to be one very well dressed baby!

Our next shower was Saturday, January 20th. This one was at Mawmaw's house, thrown by Mawmaw and Aunt Kay for family and a few friends. Mommy was again overwhelmed by the immense love and support everybody has shown us. I can hardly wait to be born, so I can meet all of these wonderful people who have taken such good care of my mommy!

This was the cake Mawmaw bought. It said "Welcome Lexi-Josiah" on it. Mawmaw has called me that for a long time now, because they didn't used to know if I was a boy or a girl! I sure hope she can remember my name when I am born!

Mommy even has friends who are close to my age. I will have a lot of cool kids to play with very soon!

More pictures of me

Mommy had another ultra sound on January 22. I didn't cooperate enough to give them any pictures of my body, but I did pose for a couple of adorable profile shots!

Not yet!

Hello! My name is Alexandria Diane, and this is my blog. Currently, I am 39 weeks and 1 day old, and I am yet to make my grand entrance into the world. Daddy, mawmaw, and many others keep trying to rush me along, but mommy and I are both still content. Last Saturday I began to stretch out a lot. Mommy complains sometimes because my feet, hands, and knees stretch all the way across her tummy! Even mommy's doctor is ready for me to arrive, but I like to keep everybody guessing. Mommy and Daddy went to the doctor Wednesday, and she talked about something called scraping mommy's membranes. Apparently, it may help mommy go into labor so I will be born soon. Mommy didn't want this done, because she knows I am still growing and comfortable in here, but next week (when the doctors say I will be born!), I think she may change her mind. If I don't arrive next week, the doctor wants to schedule an induction for the following week, and none of us want that. Everybody is beginning to predict when I will arrive. Mommy thinks maybe February 16th or 17th, Mawmaw says I will come this Sunday (wishful thinking!), and I don't think Daddy has any idea at all. He just wants me to get here already, so he can stop worrying about mommy and me during the day while he's at work! I want my first pictures on here, but mommy doesn't know how to do it. Hopefully she figures it out soon!
Mommy figured it out! She's so smart! These are my very first pictures, taken when I was 20 weeks and 5 days old.
